大河滔滔，承載著千百年來的歷史；浮士德的浪漫傳說也在19世紀的音樂與文學中彼此激盪。

音樂史上關於大江大河的描寫就如浪濤般從未止息，其中最著名的莫過史麥塔納對於祖國河山的描寫，用音符刻畫莫爾道河的綿延不絕，在每一片風景中留下音樂的印記。

受到當年白遼士《幻想交響曲》之啟發，李斯特從歌德筆下的浮士德傳說發想，創作了以三個樂章描繪三位主角的《浮士德交響曲》。在這首交響曲中，我們見證了甫萌芽的交響詩之雛形，聽見了李斯特絕妙的管弦樂語法以及與白遼士不相上下、天馬行空的想像力。

無論是描景、還是敘事，音樂在作曲家的腦海裡總能幻化成各種形象，透過書寫與詮釋，最終滲入你耳、感動你心。

The roaring river carries centuries-worth of history, just as the romantic legend of Faust tumbled and collided between music and literature in the 19th century.

Throughout the history of music, waves of compositions depicting oceans and rivers have never ceased to appear. One of the most famous would be Smetana's portrayal of the rivers and mountains of his homeland. The rushing Moldau River is painted so vividly with music the audience can almost see the scenery in the concert hall.

Inspired by Berlioz's "Symphonie fantastique", Liszt wrote down his own interpretation of Goethe's Faust and created "Faust Symphony", a piece with three movements, one for each of the three protagonists. In this symphony, we witness the early stages of the budding symphonic poem style, hear Liszt's extraordinary orchestral music language, and experience his imagination that is just as wild as Berlioz's.

Music takes on many shapes in the head of composers when they want to describe a scene or tell a story. After the musical notes are written and interpreted, they become the music that flows into your ears and touches your heart.
